"F" family sneak peek...

So today I returned to take more pics of the gorgeous "F" family.  Baby "M" is now 6 weeks old and seriously cute as a button.  It was lovely to see that the two first born 'kids' are just as loved.  Thank you again for sharing your precious Sunday morning time with me.

I want you red Lola!

Maile Wilson has donated a red Lola Epiphanie camera bag for one of the lucky readers of the Beyond Snapshots blog! It is beyond gorgeous and certainly not your run-of-the-mill-boring-zero personality bag which is what I currently have.
So the catch is you have to win it! So here is my Red entry...

You can pop over here to see more red entries and check out the blog...

frequently asked questions.

What is custom photography?
The short version - Photography that is customised to you & your lifestyle.
It is a personalised service & product right from the initial consultation through to delivery of your images.
How often do you hear friends & family fondly recalling memories of the day the family went to the portrait studio & posed in front of a painted background?
The real moments shared together in your own home or wherever you spend quality time together are cherished for a lifetime.
The custom photographer aims to capture who you are, rather than just what you look like.

Why does custom photography cost more?
Custom photography is a luxury experience that some families save for and experience every couple of years as the family grows.
There is no rushed session in a studio setting with cookie cutter poses and props & a "say cheese" attitude.
Think 'gourmet' as opposed to 'fast food'.
Factoring in the photographers time, talent, equipment (a great photographer invests in great equipment), one on one service, image editing, presentation of a gallery, processing & ordering images & custom products, delivery costs - not to mention the costs of running a legitimate business.  It all adds up to being quite reasonable and in some cases, custom photography can work out to be less pricey than some portrait chain companies (believe me, I have checked).

What is your style of custom photography?
I describe my style as photojournalistic (candid).  A session is usually a mix of candid & directed images.
The atmosphere is relaxed & fun -  I do my best to blend in with my subjects without being intrusive but also give direction when it is needed.
It's all about capturing real moments - the kids at play, the family interaction, cuddles, laughter & sometimes tears.  It makes sense that people are going to be more at ease in their own environment, this helps to produce images that reflect the real person.

What kind of light do you use?
Natural light -  Personally, I think it's the best to work with and definitely the most flattering.
Especially the fresh, early morning light and the warm golden light of the late afternoon/evening.
This is why I mainly offer only early morning & late afternoon session times.

What should we wear?
Custom photography is all about capturing you, so it is best to wear clothes that express your own style.
If your idea of a family portrait is having everyone in blue jeans and a white shirt, I may not be the photographer for you.  I actually kind of cringe at the thought of it...sorry!
Bright colours are fine (if that is your style).  I only advise that it is best to avoid bold, crazy patterns and logos as they can date images and be distracting.
What to wear is discussed in your pre-session consultation.

Do you sell packages including different products?
Yes, prints can be purchased in various sizes 'a la carte' (straight off the menu separately).  Alternatively, packages are available that include a mix of prints, art canvas & digital images on disc.  Purchasing a package does give you more value for your hard earned money.
Also available are birth announcement & holiday cards as well as coffee table books.

Cake Smash!

When I told people about celebrating Jesse's 1st birthday with a cake smash photo session,
a few of them looked a little puzzled.  I have seen so much great cake smash photography that
I assumed it was fairly popular by now.
We all love those images of our kids sitting in their highchair with spaghetti bolognese covering their entire face and smeared through their hair...so why not cake?
Jesse certainly made the most of it, the cake was demolished within a couple of minutes!
The Bob the Builder figure on top was thrown straight off and tossed aside before I had time to get a shot...no mucking around with this kid.
Happy 1st Birthday beautiful boy ♥

project 52 {9/52}

Project 52 continues along in it's random fashion.  I love the movement here as the clothesline spins around.  Will had a turn at hanging off it...brought to mind childhood memories.
